Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Manufacturing, Power and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.38%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 4.89% or 1.92 points to trade at 41.20 at the close. Meanwhile, VTB (MCX:VTBR) added 3.60% or 0.0027 points to end at 0.0778 and Polyus Gold International Ltd (MCX:PGIL) was up 3.56% or 5.00 points to 145.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mostotrest (MCX:MSTT), which fell 6.67% or 6.30 points to trade at 88.10 at the close. MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) declined 6.62% or 676.0 points to end at 9534.0 and SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) was down 1.83% or 1.16 points to 62.24.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 95 to 88 and 9 ended unchanged.
Shares in VTB (MCX:VTBR) rose to 3-years highs; up 3.60% or 0.0027 to 0.0778.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 2.48% to 33.510.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.12% or 1.50 to $1205.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.73% or 1.05 to hit $59.67 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.69% or 1.12 to trade at $65.42 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.11% to 49.900, while EUR/RUB fell 0.84% to 55.077.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.67% at 96.11.
