Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Power, Auto and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.12%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF), which rose 3.34% or 98.55 points to trade at 3,046.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT) added 2.24% or 109.65 points to end at 5,013.60 and Bharat Electronics Ltd (NS:BAJE) was up 1.90% or 5.55 points to 297.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which fell 4.74% or 107.00 points to trade at 2,150.50 at the close. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) declined 3.25% or 37.95 points to end at 1,128.85 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) was down 3.01% or 283.50 points to 9,137.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which rose 1.76% to 2,504.00, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 1.68% to settle at 1,920.85 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which gained 0.94% to close at 588.20.
The worst performers were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 3.07% to 11,105.00 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 2.21% to settle at 1,764.75 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.80% to 362.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1492 to 980 and 144 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2192 rose and 1561 declined, while 105 ended unchanged.
Shares in Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.74% or 107.00 to 2,150.50. Shares in Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) rose to 52-week highs; rising 0.94% or 5.45 to 588.20.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.49% to 15.23.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.54% or 14.30 to $2,656.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.02% or 0.70 to hit $69.64 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.97% or 0.70 to trade at $73.18 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.07% to 84.33, while EUR/INR rose 0.28% to 88.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 106.76.
