Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, IT and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.57%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.49%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which rose 3.16% or 28.85 points to trade at 941.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (NS:IOC) added 2.92% or 12.50 points to end at 440.70 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) was up 2.40% or 4.05 points to 173.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which fell 1.83% or 38.15 points to trade at 2050.00 at the close. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) declined 1.65% or 3.65 points to end at 217.30 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was down 1.26% or 4.85 points to 379.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 3.14% to 941.15, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 2.10% to settle at 172.70 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 1.96% to close at 492.75.
The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 2.01% to 2045.95 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which lost 1.25% to settle at 379.20 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.00% to 217.75 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1038 to 503 and 22 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1578 rose and 940 declined, while 136 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.54% to 12.6400.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.35% or 4.59 to $1302.49 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.07% or 0.51 to hit $47.36 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $51.99 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.04% to 63.880, while EUR/INR fell 0.14% to 76.2510.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 92.35.
