Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, IT and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.51% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI), which rose 9.73% or 284.75 points to trade at 3,212.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) added 2.60% or 108.60 points to end at 4,286.00 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) was up 2.47% or 117.65 points to 4,881.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which fell 1.66% or 3.85 points to trade at 227.50 at the close. NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) declined 1.29% or 2.30 points to end at 175.80 and Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) was down 1.19% or 234.30 points to 19,440.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which rose 2.35% to 4,877.75, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 1.52% to settle at 1,428.45 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which gained 1.27% to close at 1,684.75.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.58% to 227.60 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which lost 1.28% to settle at 19,420.00 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.24% to 175.85 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1146 to 786 and 46 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1975 rose and 1403 declined, while 114 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.48% to 12.27.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.27% or 5.45 to $2,024.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.06% or 0.05 to hit $81.58 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.13% or 0.11 to trade at $85.72 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.02% to 82.08, while EUR/INR rose 0.20% to 89.69.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 101.72.
