Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Consumer Durables sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.40%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.57%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which rose 5.02% or 94.80 points to trade at 1983.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) added 4.01% or 25.60 points to end at 666.40 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) was up 3.97% or 18.25 points to 477.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which fell 11.25% or 20.55 points to trade at 162.10 at the close. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) declined 4.56% or 15.30 points to end at 320.15 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) was down 3.70% or 12.15 points to 314.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 4.67% to 1976.55, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 4.61% to settle at 666.35 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 1.96% to close at 1615.50.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 11.71% to 161.70 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which lost 3.81% to settle at 316.00 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 3.14% to 174.35 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1058 to 536 and 57 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1552 fell and 955 advanced, while 157 ended unchanged.
Shares in Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) fell to 52-week lows; falling 11.25% or 20.55 to 162.10. Shares in Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) fell to 52-week lows; down 11.71% or 21.45 to 161.70.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.94% to 17.9600.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.05% or 0.60 to $1219.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $51.55 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.17% or 0.10 to trade at $60.30 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.35% to 70.635, while EUR/INR fell 0.24% to 79.7325.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 97.268.
