Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrials, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.06%, while the MDAX index declined 1.29%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.89%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which rose 4.70% or 7.59 points to trade at 168.96 at the close. Meanwhile, Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) added 2.65% or 1.730 points to end at 66.910 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) was up 1.68% or 1.750 points to 106.160 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn), which fell 4.14% or 8.20 points to trade at 190.10 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) declined 1.90% or 1.160 points to end at 59.920 and Allianz SE VNA O.N. (DE:ALVG) was down 1.62% or 3.20 points to 194.67.
The top performers on the MDAX were Scout24 AG (DE:G24n) which rose 2.11% to 67.800, Puma SE (DE:PUMG) which was up 2.18% to settle at 87.59 and Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which gained 1.69% to close at 97.34.
The worst performers were K&S AG (DE:SDFGn) which was down 14.72% to 8.354 in late trade, Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which lost 12.94% to settle at 134.500 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 4.78% to 35.270 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SAP SE (DE:SAPG) which rose 1.68% to 106.160, United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was up 0.86% to settle at 38.580 and Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which gained 1.08% to close at 16.698.
The worst performers were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was down 12.94% to 134.500 in late trade, LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which lost 9.80% to settle at 29.000 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 4.78% to 35.270 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 513 to 171 and 23 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.96% to 23.98.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.18% or 3.15 to $1775.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $61.14 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.11% or 0.07 to trade at $64.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.32% to 1.2074, while EUR/GBP fell 0.38% to 0.8656.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 90.700.
