Investing.com – China stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Retailers, Software & Computer Services and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite fell 0.14%, while the SZSE Component index fell 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Beihai Gofar Marine Biological Industry Co Ltd (SS:600538), which rose 10.10% or 0.510 points to trade at 5.560 at the close. Meanwhile, Eastern Communications Co Ltd A (SS:600776) added 10.09% or 0.450 points to end at 4.910 and Cultural Investment Holdings Co Ltd (SS:600715) was up 10.07% or 0.550 points to 6.010 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Great-Sun Foods Co Ltd (SS:603336), which fell 10.02% or 1.780 points to trade at 15.990 at the close. Hangzhou XZB Tech Co Ltd (SS:603040) declined 10.01% or 2.89 points to end at 25.99 and Shanghai Shibei Hi-Tech Co Ltd A (SS:600604) was down 9.98% or 1.02 points to 9.20.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Zhongfu Straits Pingtan Development Co Ltd (SZ:000592) which rose 10.14% to 3.26, Shenzhen Hifuture Electric (SZ:002168) which was up 10.00% to settle at 11.00 and Hunan TV & Broadcast Intermediary Co Ltd (SZ:000917) which gained 7.49% to close at 7.18.
The worst performers were Jiangsu Shagang Co Ltd (SZ:002075) which was down 10.02% to 9.34 in late trade, Zhonghong Holding Co Ltd (SZ:000979) which lost 10.00% to settle at 0.36 and Tatwah Smartech Co Ltd (SZ:002512) which was down 9.75% to 6.11 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Shanghai Stock Exchange by 790 to 598 and 86 ended unchanged.
Shares in Jiangsu Shagang Co Ltd (SZ:002075) fell to 52-week lows; falling 10.02% or 1.04 to 9.34. Shares in Zhonghong Holding Co Ltd (SZ:000979) fell to 5-year lows; falling 10.00% or 0.04 to 0.36. Shares in Tatwah Smartech Co Ltd (SZ:002512) fell to 3-years lows; falling 9.75% or 0.66 to 6.11.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was unchanged 0.00% to 29.99.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.32% or 3.90 to $1233.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.21% or 0.61 to hit $51.03 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.56% or 0.92 to trade at $59.96 a barrel.
USD/CNY was down 0.15% to 6.9378, while EUR/CNY rose 0.11% to 7.8844.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 96.700.
