Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Energy and Consumer Discretionary sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Shopify Inc (TO:SHOP), which rose 7.49% or 22.710 points to trade at 325.750 at the close. Meanwhile, Interfor Corp (TO:IFP) added 3.79% or 0.61 points to end at 16.70 and Aphria Inc (TO:APHA) was up 2.92% or 0.290 points to 10.220 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hexo Corp (TO:HEXO), which fell 6.03% or 0.6700 points to trade at 10.4400 at the close. Ensign Energy Services Inc (TO:ESI) declined 6.01% or 0.36 points to end at 5.63 and CES Energy Solutions Corp (TO:CEU) was down 5.09% or 0.140 points to 2.610.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 621 to 439 and 138 ended unchanged.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 0.36% to 11.25.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.30% or 3.85 to $1285.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.08% or 0.05 to hit $63.45 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.04% or 0.03 to trade at $71.66 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.05% to 0.7466, while CAD/EUR fell 0.08% to 0.6654.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 97.235.
