Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumption, Electric Power and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.49%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Magazine Luiza SA (SA:MGLU3), which rose 4.97% or 6.96 points to trade at 146.99 at the close. Meanwhile, Engie Brasil Energia SA (SA:EGIE3) added 4.51% or 1.65 points to end at 38.26 and Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) was up 3.57% or 0.50 points to 14.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which fell 4.04% or 1.05 points to trade at 24.95 at the close. Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) declined 4.02% or 0.30 points to end at 7.17 and JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) was down 3.92% or 0.35 points to 8.58.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 231 to 177 and 26 ended unchanged.
Shares in Magazine Luiza SA (SA:MGLU3) rose to all time highs; gaining 4.97% or 6.96 to 146.99.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.92% to 35.11.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.10% or 1.20 to $1219.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.36% or 0.24 to hit $66.70 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.18% or 0.19 to trade at $107.53 .
USD/BRL was up 0.76% to 3.8013, while EUR/BRL rose 0.04% to 4.3826.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.54% at 95.46.
