Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the A-REITs, Telecoms Services and Consumer Discretionary sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.33%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Mayne Pharma Group Ltd (ASX:MYX), which rose 10.53% or 0.050 points to trade at 0.525 at the close. Meanwhile, Sims Metal Management Ltd (ASX:SGM) added 9.35% or 0.890 points to end at 10.410 and Viva Energy Reit Ltd (ASX:VVR) was up 4.80% or 0.130 points to 2.840 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Costa Group Holdings Ltd (ASX:CGC), which fell 16.36% or 0.620 points to trade at 3.170 at the close. Pilbara Minerals Ltd (ASX:PLS) declined 7.23% or 0.030 points to end at 0.385 and South32 Ltd (ASX:S32) was down 6.46% or 0.170 points to 2.460.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 594 to 583 and 346 ended unchanged.
Shares in Costa Group Holdings Ltd (ASX:CGC) fell to 52-week lows; losing 16.36% or 0.620 to 3.170. Shares in Pilbara Minerals Ltd (ASX:PLS) fell to 52-week lows; down 7.23% or 0.030 to 0.385. Shares in Viva Energy Reit Ltd (ASX:VVR) rose to all time highs; up 4.80% or 0.130 to 2.840. Shares in South32 Ltd (ASX:S32) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.46% or 0.170 to 2.460.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 4.56% to 14.832.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.27% or 4.05 to $1504.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.33% or 0.18 to hit $55.53 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.47% or 0.28 to trade at $60.20 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.04% to 0.6754, while AUD/JPY rose 0.16% to 72.02.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 98.245.
