Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.99% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were VTB (MCX:VTBR), which rose 8.02% or 0.0048 points to trade at 0.0648 at the close. Meanwhile, NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) added 4.91% or 6.29 points to end at 134.39 and MosEnrg (MCX:MSNG) was up 4.39% or 0.1340 points to 3.1895 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which fell 3.32% or 24.50 points to trade at 713.00 at the close. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) declined 3.27% or 6.70 points to end at 198.00 and Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) was down 2.87% or 23.5 points to 796.5.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 133 to 91 and 15 ended unchanged.
Shares in MosEnrg (MCX:MSNG) rose to 5-year highs; rising 4.39% or 0.1340 to 3.1895.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.92% to 18.270 a new 3-years low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.26% or 3.44 to $1315.46 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.09% or 0.04 to hit $46.48 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.74% or 0.38 to trade at $51.28 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.75% to 58.3888, while EUR/RUB fell 1.17% to 69.6241.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 92.61.
