Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Utilities, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.57%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which rose 1.91% or 0.77 points to trade at 41.16 at the close. Meanwhile, KBC (BR:KBC) added 1.68% or 1.070 points to end at 64.700 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was up 1.09% or 0.48 points to 44.78 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which fell 2.22% or 0.31 points to trade at 13.68 at the close. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) declined 1.72% or 0.57 points to end at 32.53 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was down 1.60% or 0.570 points to 35.030.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 84 to 36 and 8 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.08% or 0.98 to $1247.38 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.96% or 0.85 to hit $44.23 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.02% or 0.93 to trade at $46.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.20% to 1.1315, while EUR/GBP rose 0.68% to 0.8849.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.81% at 96.32.
