NEW YORK, Oct 21 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks extended declines and the S&P 500 was at session lows on Thursday afternoon as a fall in oil and other commodity prices and strength in the dollar weighed on shares.
The Dow Jones industrial average dipped 24.45 points, or 0.22 percent, at 11,083.52. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 5.02 points, or 0.43 percent, at 1,173.15. The Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 16.65 points, or 0.68 percent, at 2,440.74.
