Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Plastic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Swancor Holding Co Ltd (TW:3708), which rose 9.93% or 7.00 points to trade at 77.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Crowell Development Corp (TW:2528) added 9.92% or 1.25 points to end at 13.85 and Asmedia Technology Inc (TW:5269) was up 9.90% or 33.00 points to 366.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Biostar Microtech International Corp (TW:2399), which fell 5.68% or 1.00 points to trade at 16.60 at the close. Sinbon Electronics Co Ltd (TW:3023) declined 5.17% or 3.70 points to end at 67.80 and Universal Cement Corp (TW:1104) was down 4.79% or 1.17 points to 23.25.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 420 to 331 and 126 ended unchanged.
Shares in Crowell Development Corp (TW:2528) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 9.92% or 1.25 to 13.85. Shares in Asmedia Technology Inc (TW:5269) rose to all time highs; gaining 9.90% or 33.00 to 366.50.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.02% or 0.01 to $46.09 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $48.41 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.05% or 0.57 to trade at $1217.87 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.00% to 30.378, while TWD/CNY rose 0.04% to 0.2239.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 95.47.
