Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.73%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Pharmstandard JSC (MCX:PHST), which rose 11.90% or 125.0 points to trade at 1175.0 at the close. Meanwhile, SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) added 3.29% or 2.28 points to end at 71.67 and Sollers (MCX:SVAV) was up 2.41% or 10.0 points to 425.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which fell 3.04% or 15.00 points to trade at 479.00 at the close. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) declined 2.38% or 0.85 points to end at 34.85 and Mostotrest (MCX:MSTT) was down 1.96% or 1.70 points to 85.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 112 to 94 and 7 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.02% to 43.940.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.39% or 4.40 to $1120.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.33% or 0.62 to hit $46.13 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.63% or 0.82 to trade at $49.85 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.79% to 67.743, while EUR/RUB rose 0.97% to 75.484.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 96.27.
