Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3), which rose 4.99% or 2.15 points to trade at 45.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) added 4.15% or 1.20 points to end at 30.15 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) was up 3.12% or 1.64 points to 54.27 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA:ENBR3), which fell 10.90% or 1.70 points to trade at 13.90 at the close. Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) declined 7.45% or 2.08 points to end at 25.85 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was down 6.32% or 1.51 points to 22.38.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 288 to 168 and 25 ended unchanged.
Shares in Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3) rose to all time highs; gaining 4.99% or 2.15 to 45.25. Shares in Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) rose to 5-year highs; up 4.15% or 1.20 to 30.15. Shares in Vale SA (SA:VALE3) rose to 5-year highs; rising 3.12% or 1.64 to 54.27.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.28% to 27.87.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.55% or 7.20 to $1313.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.58% or 0.41 to hit $71.11 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.43% or 1.70 to trade at $117.58 .
USD/BRL was up 0.65% to 3.6227, while EUR/BRL rose 0.56% to 4.3240.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 92.50.
