Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , Information Services and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.78%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Waffer Tech (TW:6235), which rose 9.88% or 0.98 points to trade at 10.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Mbi (TW:1783) added 8.46% or 2.20 points to end at 28.20 and Svbi (TW:1786) was up 6.74% or 4.30 points to 68.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chiu Ting Mach (TW:1539), which fell 9.93% or 3.40 points to trade at 30.85 at the close. Yoko Tech (TW:6131) declined 9.90% or 2.60 points to end at 23.65 and Weltrend Semic (TW:2436) was down 9.86% or 2.45 points to 22.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 586 to 254 and 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in Weltrend Semic (TW:2436) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.86% or 2.45 to 22.40.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.04% or 0.02 to $51.19 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.13% or 0.07 to hit $57.02 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 1.68% or 19.00 to trade at $1112.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.46% to 31.165, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1989.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 98.05.
