Investing.com – U.K. consumer price inflation rose at a slower pace than expected in May, official data showed on Tuesday.
In a report, Britain's statistics agency said its consumer price index rose 3.4% during the month, after a rise of 3.7% during April.
Economists had expected slightly stronger growth of 3.5% in May.
Following the release of the data, the pound was down against the U.S. dollar, with GBP/USD shedding 0.23% to reach 1.4706.
