Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Energy, Gold and Resources sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.06% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Bellamys Australia Ltd (ASX:BAL), which rose 54.93% or 4.570 points to trade at 12.890 at the close. Meanwhile, Blackmores Ltd (ASX:BKL) added 9.40% or 7.22 points to end at 84.00 and Eclipx Group Ltd (ASX:ECX) was up 7.81% or 0.125 points to 1.725 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sims Metal Management Ltd (ASX:SGM), which fell 13.29% or 1.670 points to trade at 10.900 at the close. Qantas Airways Ltd (ASX:QAN) declined 4.53% or 0.29 points to end at 6.11 and Steadfast Group Ltd (ASX:SDF) was down 3.86% or 0.140 points to 3.490.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 637 to 584 and 358 ended unchanged.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 1.90% to 12.592.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.94% or 14.05 to $1513.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 8.67% or 4.75 to hit $59.55 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 9.78% or 5.89 to trade at $66.11 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.07% to 0.6872, while AUD/JPY fell 0.27% to 74.09.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 97.768.
