Investing.com - Consumer price inflation in Switzerland fell into negative territory in July, fueling concerns over the threat of deflation, official data showed on Wednesday.
In a report, the Swiss Federal Statistics Office said consumer price inflation decreased by 0.6% from a month earlier in July, compared to forecasts for a decline of 0.4%. Swiss consumer prices inched up 0.1% in June.
Year-over-year, Swiss consumer prices decreased at an annualized rate of 1.3% last month, worse than expectations for a reading of 1.1%, after falling 1.0% in June.
USD/CHF was trading at 0.9793 from around 0.9789 ahead of the release of the data, while EUR/CHF was at 1.0639 from 1.0635 earlier.
