Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Industrials and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 lost 3.99% to hit a new 3-years low.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Recordati (MI:RECI), which rose 0.94% or 0.24 points to trade at 25.69 at the close. Meanwhile, Italcementi (MI:ITAI) added 0.10% or 0.010 points to end at 10.490 and Terna (MI:TRN) was up 0.09% or 0.004 points to 4.528 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which fell 13.34% or 0.0606 points to trade at 0.3936 at the close. Mediobanca (MI:MDBI) declined 12.77% or 0.678 points to end at 4.632 and Azimut Holding (MI:AZMT) was down 11.84% or 1.99 points to 14.82.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 359 to 64 and 11 ended unchanged.
Shares in Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS) fell to all time lows; down 13.34% or 0.0606 to 0.3936. Shares in Mediobanca (MI:MDBI) fell to 52-week lows; losing 12.77% or 0.678 to 4.632. Shares in Azimut Holding (MI:AZMT) fell to 52-week lows; down 11.84% or 1.99 to 14.82.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 2.98% or 1.42 to $46.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 2.90% or 1.42 to hit $47.62 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.19% or 2.50 to trade at $1324.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.80% to 1.1028, while EUR/GBP rose 2.79% to 0.8353.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.91% at 96.50.
