Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Electrical, Aerospace & Defense and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 5.34% or 72.00 points to trade at 1419.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) added 2.87% or 5.80 points to end at 207.70 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) was up 2.29% or 21.00 points to 936.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG), which fell 3.35% or 14.20 points to trade at 410.30 at the close. ITV PLC (LON:ITV) declined 2.91% or 5.30 points to end at 176.60 and WPP PLC (LON:WPP) was down 2.55% or 41.00 points to 1569.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 940 to 893 and 512 ended unchanged.
Shares in EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) rose to 52-week highs; up 5.34% or 72.00 to 1419.00. Shares in WPP PLC (LON:WPP) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.55% or 41.00 to 1569.00.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.03% or 12.66 to $1210.64 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.59% or 1.18 to hit $44.34 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 2.60% or 1.25 to trade at $46.86 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.69% to 1.2881, while EUR/GBP rose 0.48% to 0.8850.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 95.81.
