Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 1.30% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 3.99% or 2.19 points to trade at 57.09 at the close. Meanwhile, Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) added 3.51% or 24.80 points to end at 730.80 and Gazprom (MCX:GAZP) was up 3.31% or 4.72 points to 147.47 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Polyus Gold International Ltd (MCX:PGIL), which fell 4.13% or 8.00 points to trade at 185.80 at the close. Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) declined 1.57% or 0.0195 points to end at 1.2210 and RDR United Company RUSAL PLC (MCX:RUALR) was down 1.49% or 3.60 points to 238.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 147 to 75 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.99% or 2.19 to 57.09. Shares in RDR United Company RUSAL PLC (MCX:RUALR) fell to 52-week lows; losing 1.49% or 3.60 to 238.50.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.96% to 33.550.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.09% or 1.00 to $1067.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.30% or 0.53 to hit $40.14 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.29% or 0.12 to trade at $43.45 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.76% to 65.415, while EUR/RUB rose 0.94% to 69.653.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 99.76.
