Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Banking and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.36%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (L:GLEN), which rose 2.89% or 2.2700 points to trade at 80.8500 at the close. Meanwhile, Sage Group PLC (L:SGE) added 2.44% or 13.50 points to end at 568.00 and Persimmon PLC (L:PSN) was up 1.94% or 37.00 points to 1948.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kingfisher PLC (L:KGF), which fell 6.12% or 21.10 points to trade at 323.90 at the close. Lloyds Banking Group PLC (L:LLOY) declined 5.56% or 3.7200 points to end at 63.1400 and Weir Group PLC (L:WEIR) was down 4.80% or 42.50 points to 843.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1086 to 1058 and 453 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lloyds Banking Group PLC (L:LLOY) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.56% or 3.7200 to 63.1400.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.99% or 10.80 to $1107.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 5.31% or 1.71 to hit $30.48 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 4.16% or 1.36 to trade at $31.48 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.21% to 1.4236, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.7606.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 99.50.
