Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Insurance, Fishery and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301), which rose 8.51% or 51.0 points to trade at 650.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Softbank Corp. (T:9984) added 7.45% or 657.0 points to end at 9479.5 and Toshiba Corp. (T:6502) was up 5.11% or 14.6 points to 300.2 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fujifilm Holdings Corp. (T:4901), which fell 4.02% or 166.0 points to trade at 3964.0 at the close. Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707) declined 2.47% or 11.0 points to end at 434.0 and Nissan Chemical Industries, Ltd. (T:4021) was down 2.09% or 80.0 points to 3740.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1556 to 1496 and 304 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.30% to 14.02.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.07% or 0.03 to $45.61 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $47.84 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.19% or 2.43 to trade at $1277.07 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.39% to 110.32, while EUR/JPY rose 0.03% to 123.28.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 97.42.
