Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Construction, Chemicals and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 2.76%, while the MDAX index lost 2.11%, and the TecDAX index declined 2.51%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which fell 0.35% or 0.16 points to trade at 46.08 at the close. Meanwhile, Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) fell 0.80% or 0.72 points to end at 89.30 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was down 1.28% or 0.115 points to 8.855 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG), which fell 4.85% or 3.200 points to trade at 62.720 at the close. Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) declined 4.77% or 13.45 points to end at 268.75 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) was down 4.60% or 2.060 points to 42.680.
The top performers on the MDAX were Grenke N AG (DE:GLJn) which rose 5.16% to 78.50, Osram Licht AG (DE:OSRn) which was up 1.22% to settle at 40.64 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which gained 0.76% to close at 105.600.
The worst performers were Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO Pref (DE:FPEG_p) which was down 8.69% to 30.900 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which lost 6.05% to settle at 43.460 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 5.97% to 66.520 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which rose 6.50% to 43.920, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 1.10% to settle at 25.700 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which gained 0.76% to close at 105.600.
The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 6.05% to 43.460 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 5.97% to settle at 66.520 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 5.72% to 19.950 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 588 to 106 and 62 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 20.88% to 20.84 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.21% or 18.05 to $1507.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.77% or 0.95 to hit $52.67 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.99% or 1.17 to trade at $57.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.0956, while EUR/GBP rose 0.25% to 0.8902.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 98.692.
