Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Glass, Electricity and Semiconductor sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.84% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Candmark (TW:5259), which rose 10.00% or 0.20 points to trade at 2.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Phytohealth (TW:4108) added 9.93% or 2.90 points to end at 32.10 and Lu Hai (TW:2115) was up 9.90% or 5.80 points to 64.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Aoc (TW:6289), which fell 7.26% or 0.090 points to trade at 1.150 at the close. Epileds Tech (TW:4956) declined 5.35% or 1.15 points to end at 20.35 and Eclat Textile (TW:1476) was down 4.29% or 16.50 points to 368.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 487 to 241 and 127 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lu Hai (TW:2115) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.90% or 5.80 to 64.40.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.51% or 0.23 to $45.06 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.51% or 0.24 to hit $47.50 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.15% or 2.00 to trade at $1356.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.64% to 31.215, while TWD/CNY fell 0.23% to 0.2141.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 94.75.
