Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Trading & Consumer Goods, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Plastic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.33% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Asrock (TW:3515), which rose 10.00% or 4.80 points to trade at 52.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Genesis Photon (TW:3383) added 9.92% or 0.35 points to end at 3.88 and Thinking Eltr (TW:2428) was up 7.47% or 5.10 points to 73.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pihsiang (TW:1729), which fell 9.95% or 2.90 points to trade at 26.25 at the close. Ko Ja (TW:5215) declined 9.71% or 3.40 points to end at 31.60 and Inventec Besta (TW:8201) was down 9.16% or 1.25 points to 12.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 470 to 304 and 102 ended unchanged.
Shares in Asrock (TW:3515) rose to 52-week highs; up 10.00% or 4.80 to 52.80. Shares in Pihsiang (TW:1729) fell to 3-years lows; losing 9.95% or 2.90 to 26.25. Shares in Thinking Eltr (TW:2428) rose to all time highs; up 7.47% or 5.10 to 73.40.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.04% or 0.49 to $47.82 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.94% or 0.47 to hit $50.69 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.30% or 3.62 to trade at $1222.52 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.22% to 30.193, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2284.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 99.46.
