Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Plantations, Beverages & Tobacco and Investment Trust sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Nanda Investments and Finance PLC (CM:NAND), which rose 24.01% or 9.70 points to trade at 50.10 at the close. Meanwhile, J L Morison Sons & Jones (Ceylon) PLC (CM:MORI) added 22.92% or 97.70 points to end at 524.00 and Odel PLC (CM:ODEL) was up 13.92% or 3.30 points to 27.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC (CM:SWAD), which fell 24.07% or 3250.00 points to trade at 10250.00 at the close. Union Chemicals Lanka PLC (CM:UCHE) declined 23.98% or 143.90 points to end at 456.20 and Anilana Hotels & Properties Ltd (CM:ANIL) was down 17.65% or 0.300 points to 1.400.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 104 to 80 and 64 ended unchanged.
Shares in J L Morison Sons & Jones (Ceylon) PLC (CM:MORI) rose to all time highs; rising 22.92% or 97.70 to 524.00. Shares in Union Chemicals Lanka PLC (CM:UCHE) fell to 52-week lows; losing 23.98% or 143.90 to 456.20. Shares in Odel PLC (CM:ODEL) rose to 3-years highs; rising 13.92% or 3.30 to 27.00.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.34% or 0.15 to $44.09 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.09% or 0.04 to hit $46.88 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.59% or 7.32 to trade at $1254.22 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.39% to 196.805, while USD/LKR rose 0.10% to 153.440.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 95.97.
